Let's try something

When's the last time you felt that itch of transformation, and it frightened you? I'm talking about that little voice inside of you that notices something new in your environment and whispers, "What if I followed that path?"
I think we live in a society that puts too much pressure on the meaning of transformation. To me, that word is numbing. It stops us in our tracks. Imagining how different our lives could be after undergoing a transformation too often prevents us from actually beginning the work. And that's what it really is: work. So what if we had a reframe to our relationship with transformation?
The next time you feel the itch, ask yourself: what is it trying to tell you, and can you listen without feeling like you need to hear the full answer immediately? What fears are coming up for you when you imagine fueling that itch? Then, what's the best outcome that could happen if taking those first few steps and following that itch turned into a leap? And finally, what might be the cost of ignoring that itch?
I'm not asking you to follow every itch you feel. I'm asking you to experiment with changing how you experience and acknowledge these moments, and get more curious about what might be underneath them in the best ways possible, not the most fearful.
If I'm being totally honest, the itch I'm mostly feeling this morning is from the hornet that stung me earlier this week. Sometimes we have to manage a different kind of itch before we can be fully present with the ones that could transform our lives.
